First Visit
At your first appointment, we will discuss your health concerns, and what you hope to gain from acupuncture. I will then perform an extensive interview of your medical history, observe your tongue, and feel your pulse. These are important components of Chinese medicine that allow insight into the internal workings of your body. Once I have gathered this information, I will design a specific treatment that will address both the symptoms, and the underlying causes of illness. I will explain each procedure prior to treatment and discuss your prognosis and expected outcomes. In general, chronic conditions and elderly patients have a slower response to treatment than younger patients and they will therefore require a longer course of treatment. The initial appointment generally takes 1.5 hours with follow up appointments taking 45 minutes to 1 hour. Is recommended that you complete the paper work prior to the initial appointment and that you wear loose comfortable clothing to your appointment, making sure that your arms, legs, and the abdomen are accessible.

Acupuncture needles are solid, thin, sterile, and single-use, which means they are used on one patient only, and are then discarded. This eliminates the transmission of infectious diseases. Most patients find the needles relatively painless and feel quite relaxed during, and after treatments.

Initial Treatment

Your first appointment will take about 1.5 hours. I will go over your paper work, and the risks and benefits of acupuncture. We will discuss your health concerns and you will have the opportunity to ask questions you may have about acupuncture. I will conduct an extensive interview, observe your tongue, and feel your pulse, followed by a specific treatment for your condition. Body, scalp and auricular points may be used, and the needles are retained for 20 minutes.

It is best to have the paper work completed prior to the initial appointment.

Follow Up Visits
Follow up visits take 45 minutes to 1 hour. We will spend 10 to 15 minutes discussing your progress and your concerns and I will observe your tongue and feel your pulse. A treatment will follow, taking into account the changes that have taken place since the last treatment and adjusting treatments accordingly.

Facial Acupuncture
A facial acupuncture treatment takes 1.5 hours. We will discuss your aesthetic concerns as well as the risks of facial acupuncture. At your first treatment, I will determine your constitution to determine the acupuncture points that will be used. A treatment will follow using points on the body, scalp, and face. The needles are very thin and are coated in silicone to minimize discomfort. The treatment will be followed by neck and facial massage to facilitate lymph drainage, and muscle relaxation
